London Seminary, a reflection of spirituality and traditions

Religion has always significantly influenced all areas of our lives. In general, it is a very controversial topic. Some people are very devoted to religion, while others see it as a method of governing the entire nation. In any case, the history of many countries (in particular, European ones) shows the church’s imprint on the economic, artistic and industrial spheres. In the capital of Great Britain, religious traditions played an important role in the formation of the educational system, as the first educational institutions had a close connection with the church. Although many things have changed in modern London, there are still institutions where you can acquire knowledge and skills for religious activities. One of these is London Seminary. History of development

The history of London Seminary began in 1977. However, it had a different name then. London Theological Seminary was founded by a group of clergymen. Its activities included the training of future preachers and pastors. The name was shortened in 2016. So, now, the institution is known as London Seminary. It is located in the building, which was formerly occupied by the Kensit Memorial Bible College. Its purpose was to proclaim the Gospel and defend the faith. The views of the modern London Seminary representatives are similar.

Seminary worldview

The institution’s representatives believe that political, social and technological conditions are constantly changing, but the needs of the human heart remain the same. Faith remains the only tool that can lead the world, which is full of sins, to a bright future. London Seminary sticks to several principles. First, the Holy Scriptures are inerrant and the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are the same in essence as well as equal in power and glory. Secondly, the seminary adheres to a certain version of events related to the birth and life of Jesus Christ. In particular, the ascension to heaven is perceived as humanity receiving the only eternal mediator between God. The seminary also believes in the resurrection of the body, the Last Judgment, the eternal bliss of the saved and the eternal punishment of the lost. The result of these views is the general spiritual unity of people.

Main areas of study

The basic principles of evangelical Christianity underlie all educational programmes at the seminary. Despite the global tendency of modern society to equal rights, the seminary’s pastoral course remains available only to men. During such training, students master Hebrew and Greek. Much attention is paid to church history, theology and understanding the Bible doctrines. The course also involves using the acquired knowledge in practice. All students get the opportunity to become part of a church and experience direct communication with people. It should be noted that there is a separate course for women called Flourish. However, its duration is only nine days.

The students of London Seminary are not only residents of Great Britain. The institution has educated people from different countries of the world, including Italy, Spain, Germany, Argentina, Korea, China, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Nigeria and South Africa. The Pastors’ Academy, which is located in London Seminary, is also important. It provides pastoral support, the opportunity to develop educational projects and organises various conferences, days devoted to theology and other activities related to seminary studies.
