The history of the hotel’s creation was very elegant and aristocratic from the very beginning. It even managed to survive the Second World War. Despite the constant bombing of the city, the hotel withstood all the challenges. Good fortification played an important role. The building was protected by 10,000 sandbags and a large amount of other means. During the war, one of the hotel’s rooms served as the Officers’ Sunday Club. In 1943, a canteen for American officers was located here. Sometime after the end of the war, the building and the territory underwent global changes. In fact, the hotel was completely rebuilt.
Current state and main features
The beginning of the 21st century was marked by the most extensive restoration in the entire history of the hotel’s development. In 2008, the world saw a completely renovated JW Marriott Grosvenor House. Then all the restaurants and rooms were reconstructed. Other premises have also undergone many changes. Throughout the entire history of the hotel’s existence, it changed several owners. Nowadays, the hotel is managed by the JW Marriott Hotels company.
