The business began to develop so quickly that the owners purchased several more plots in different parts of London. One of them was a derelict brewery on Chiswell Street, which was bought in 1750. This area has become the current location of The Brewery. It was intended for the production of porter (one of the beer styles of a dark colour due to the use of malt). The drink was created in London a little earlier (around the first half of the 18th century). However, this brewery produced porter on a commercial scale. A few years later, the Chiswell Street brewery achieved unparalleled results.

By the 1780s, Whitbread had become the largest brewery in the world. The scale of production was so great that the once-abandoned brewery on Chiswell Street turned into an entire factory. Its significance has been and remains extremely valuable from a historical point of view. The institution is also known for the repeated visits of King George III. Elizabeth II was also interested in the activity of the brewery. Therefore, the place remained popular not only in London but also throughout the country for a long time. The development of the brewery slowed down somewhat during the First World War. In 1940, Whitbread stopped regular production of porter. Later, several of the company’s pubs were damaged during the Second World War. Although with the onset of peaceful life, Whitbread flourished, in 1976, the workers produced the last batch of beer. That was the end of the 225-year history, which was filled with numerous important events.

Current state and variety of offers

Nowadays, its descendant, The Brewery, is located on the territory of the legendary factory. This place is quite popular in London and is distinguished by the high quality of the services provided. Although you can’t try the porter that was made several centuries ago anymore here, representatives of The Brewery pay great attention to highlighting the history of the creation and development of the former brewery. They are really proud of such a past and strive to make the location even better with the help of modern trends. The Brewery hosts magical, exciting and gorgeous events. The building has various halls for rent. They differ in size and technological equipment. In general, its representatives offer the organisation of different events, such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, award ceremonies, forum and much more. They are also ready with options for hall decoration and a menu (they could be adjusted according to the client’s individual requirements). However, its main purpose is the continuation of the Whitbread tradition, which has long been the centre of entertainment in London.

Most residents of the capital of Great Britain take traditions and customs quite seriously.
